Third grade students get an “earfull” from Dr. Dvorak

January 10, 2013

Dr. Dvorak went to a local third grade classroom recently and gave a special presentation.  These third graders have been learning about the five senses and she came in to teach all about the ear and hearing.  She gave demonstrations showing that sound is vibration through the use of a tuning fork, ping pong balls, and rice.  All the kids were able to check out what the three smallest bones in the human body look like.  Finally, Dr. Dvorak taught the students about the dangers of noise and how they (and everyone else) can protect themselves through the use of hearing protection, walking away from loud sounds, and turning down the volume.
